 Marshmallow Root Tea

A member of the mallow family, Marshmallow Root has been used for thousands of years as food and medicine, especially when other vegetables were scarce during times of famine. Today, this root is primary used to make teas, tinctures, infusions, and extracts.

As a medicinal tea, Marshmallow Root boasts a pleasantly mild flavor with hints of sweetness. This tea contains a high mucilage content that makes it a powerful remedy for a variety of ailments. When used for the common cold, Marshmallow Root can act as a pain reliever for sore throats, loosen mucus and inhibit bacterial growth. It's anti-inflammatory properties may also soothe an irritated digestive tract and provide relief for constipation and heartburn.

Marshmallow Root is generally well tolerated, however consuming too much for too long may cause upset stomach or dizziness. It is wise to consult your medical care provider before adding any herbs into your daily regime, especially when pregnant, breastfeeding or persons with underlying conditions.

Happy Sipping!
