Herbal teas are soothing when sipped warm and refreshing over ice.
For hot tea: Root teas are best prepared as a decoction. Put 10oz of water into a pot and put on medium. Leaving the heat on, place a teabag into the water and steep for 10-20 minutes, depending upon desired strength. The water will reduce to about 8oz. Use two teabags for a stronger tea. Sweeten to taste with natural sweeteners such as honey, agave, or stevia.
For ice tea: Simple pour over ice after steeping and adding sweetener.
